BLADE Short Film
Blade is a short narrative film that unfolds across one night, split between two decades — the 1970s and the 1990s — revealing how a single moment fractures history and sets the world on a path toward collapse.
The film moves back and forth between:
-
The 1970s — the origin point: optimism, ideology, community, and the early cracks
-
The 1990s — the aftermath: gritty, black-and-white, Spike Lee–era New York filtered through a The Batman lens — paranoid, militant, and broken
At the center is a rising tension between community resistance and invasive systems of power — vampires operating as a metaphor for extraction, surveillance, ICE, and white supremacy, quietly feeding while claiming order.
That night, a well-intentioned talk-show host named Tiffany, through her program Renaissance, attempts to redirect the War on Drugs and reclaim narrative control. Her decision to let an outsider into the room — unknowingly a vampire — becomes the spark that ignites a chain reaction.
By the 1990s, that spark has grown into open conflict.
Enter Blade — not as a superhero, but as a product of history — moving alongside the Lumpen Revolutionaries, a militant collective formed from the discarded, criminalized, and radicalized remnants of the system itself.
